This project has ended. If you need assistance developing a grazing plan, or have questions regarding your livestock grazing operation, please contact the Clark County SWCD office at (812) 256-2330, ext. 3.

This project was designed to help producers improve their livestock grazing operations, and to improve and protect water quality in the Muscatatuck and Silver-Little KY(Indiana) watersheds. The grant offers assistance to farmers in Scott, Clark, and Jefferson Counties in Indiana who graze livestock including beef cattle, dairy cattle, horses, sheep, and goats.

GOALS OF THE GRANT

The grant will help livestock producers improve their operation by designing a grazing plan and installing new practices that will make them better environmental stewards. Through a cost-share program that will be implemented, livestock producers will be able to apply for assistance to fund the installation of new practices. Along with the cost-share program, the grant will help educate livestock producers about water quality and forage issues through workshops and newsletters.

The following pictures show a few of the grant projects:

Here's the same streambank at a different angle, but you can see that erosion is under control after a riparian buffer was installed.
